Scarlet the cat has expensive taste for a former stray. Her favorite perch is the boucle fabric on our Diamond Chair.
Maria

Rosie the 3 year old Australian Shepherd is allowed wherever she wants in our house, with the exception of table surfing! We could all learn a thing or two about how to get totally comfortable from our pets.
Cara (Tacoma, WA)

We have a 10 week old goldendoodle named Daisy. I work from home and getting anything done now involves planning around her naps! We are in love.
– Julia (Charlotte, NC) (we chat all about her here!)

1 – feli and kasimir at their favorite winter spot in front of the radiator, kasimir on a 1920s chair from my husband’s grandparents.
2 – feli on an eames rocking chair she normally doesn’t like because of  the rocking. the cosy blankets seemed to do the trick.
3 – kasimir occupying my eames working chair in my sewing room. trying to stop me from sewing and feed him instead 😉
– Heike (Graz, Austria)

Thanks again for posting MoSmitty’s photo last month. It’s a pic of Mo’s bro Dexter Buster. The photo is mostly a collection of rugs: a vintage multi-hued Flokati, a vintage Moroccan Berber and tri-colored cowhide, plus the base of a burl wood footstool and Dexter (the dog who looks like a Flokati) in our tiny cabin.
– Donna (d of dogland)

This is my 14-year-old cat Charlie, who rescued me when he was 6 years old.  On weekend mornings, Charlie and I hang out on this chaise lounge from Ikea and enjoy a pot of coffee, and birdwatching.
– Stacey

This is Jada a friends dog who is having a sleepover.

– Margo (Vancouver Island)

This is our Siberian Husky named Loki on our Ikea bed, though the real furniture stars here to us are the floating side tables we repurposed from vintage wine crates, perfect for our tiny space. We adopted Loki from a family who’s son became allergic to dogs and are so happy we did, he is now our trusted hiking companion and possibly one of the few Husky’s in history to be successfully off leash trained at the old age of 5!
Lis (Phoenix, Arizona)

Our two pets, Daisy and Bearbear, are big time loungers. We are lucky to get a spot in the bed 🙂 Bearbear came from Kitty Harbor in Seattle, Wa and Daisy came from Brightside Animal Shelter in Redmond, OR. Both are great places if you are looking to get a pet!
– Jill (Seattle, WA)

It’s Fasol from Russia on the Wegner chair. Good disguise, isn’t it? 🙂

1 – Marigata (in english Mary Cat) lounging on the Nelson desk
2 – Mitsou, the persian, and her swan chair. She was named Mitsou after the cat of painter Balthus

3 – What’s the point on owning a white sofa if you don’t have a black cat, Marigata thinks
4 – Marigata helping me while painting a watercolor
– Rocío (Cádiz, Spain)

1 – Marvin contemplates spring at Grandma and Grandpa’s house in Michigan.
2 – on my back porch – comfy on a vintage glider I found on Craigslist in Chicago
– Nicole

This is Dio the Dog and Henry the cat. Dio is a 3.5 year old Border Collie Golden retriever mix. Henry is a cat. They are pretty good buds most of the time. We all live together in Seattle Washington with Henry’s sister Alice (cat) and Dio’s mom Kiersten (human). There is also a bonus puppy picture of Dio on our bed.
– Jared (Seattle, WA)

I am sending a picture of Hobbit a 12 years old new facebook and instagram sensation. He’s a rescue mutt and this picture was today’s post and it seems to be a favorite! He’s just standing on a (almost) pallet sofa! How funny looking is he?!
– Marta (Setúbal, Portugal)

Felix, having a nap on the Panton chair next to my desk.

This is Baxter, our 6 year old retired racing greyhound. When we adopted him, he had never lived in a home before and we had to teach him things like how to go up the stairs, and how to get on the sofa for a nap. He is a fast learner and this Pottery Barn sofa is now his favorite spot in the house, even though his long legs are always hanging off.
– Eric (Miami Beach, FL)

Thought I’d send you this shot of my Mac. She is enjoying the view from our IKEA ottoman
– Laura

Here is our Ollie on the bed with some vintage German science posters behind her (jellyfish and potatoes!). She was just wrapping up a nice grooming session while enjoying the sun.
– Jesse O.

This is Oliver 7 month old Whippet enjoying his favourite spot, on the sofa.
– Rob (Halfmoon Bay, British Columbia)

Cats on furniture
– Chuck (Mankato, MN)

Bear, the fluffy black cat, chose us on a very cold, blustery winter day. We have never looked back. Max moved with us from Shanghai, and adapted quite well to Canadian cat culture. He is no longer with us, but he lived a very large, intercontinental life.
1 – Bear sits atop a teak dining table, made in Thailand but purchased in Singapore.
2 – Max is sleeping below a wall of pictures, a collection of house pictures on the left and, appropriately, cat pictures on the right.
3 – Max in the kitchen with a Chinese chicken coop cabinet in the background.
4 – Bear atop a dansu, a favourite lookout spot.
– Joanie

I wanted to give a quick update on my herd of ferals. Bernie, Frankie and Georgie are doing well and now that I have realized the power of food, they are progressing really well. Frankie used to spend all of his time hiding when I was in the boys room, and now he always comes out and wants to play with whatever toy I’m swinging around or to chase the laser pointer.

Now that he wanders around, I was able to got a photo of his beautiful spots. He is so handsome! I also started letting Felix in the room with them, as they seemed very curious of the cats on the other side of the door. Felix is the most chill of my other cats and could not care less about the newbies, and it turns out none of the ferals care too much when he’s in the room with them. Yay! The other night while Felix was lounging on my sofa pillow, Frankie – the shyest of the ferals – walked right up to Felix and sniffed his face. It was a magical moment.

Here is a demonstration of the power of Fancy Feast, as seen with Bernie.

Monday’s pets on furniture – part 1

It looks like Monday’s pets on furniture is back in business! YAY! Thanks to everyone who submitted entries this past week. I hope the momentum continues. If you would like to participate photos, your name, location and a brief description can be sent to kim[@]desiretoinspire[.]net.

This is our Vizsla rescue Rollo, he was about 1 year and 3 months here. He’s not allowed on the furniture. When my husband found him lounging in our Saarinen Womb chair, he put the ottoman on it to deter Rollo. A few minutes later he came around the corner to find him back in the chair, clearly undeterred by the ottoman.
– Beth (Alexandria, VA)

This is our best little buddy, Chase Mutley, in his favorite spot – our bed.
– Stephanie

This is Monty enjoying the morning sun on our breakfast table. Of course the real goal was to grab a bit of the spider plant for breakfast as well.
– Rosemary

Bandi -dwarf rabbit- again on the furniture! 🙂
– Edina (Hungary)

My mum and I found Crème in the street, 7 years ago, when she was very little, and she has lived with me since I moved out from my parent’s house. Crème loves visits, and behaves like a dog! (she follows people through the house, waits at the door for me to arrive after work, and comes running when people call her name).
– Noelia (Buenos Aires, Argentina)

Fela and Nitka are sisters, they are four years old now and they have been inseparable since the day they were born. Unfortunately, Nitka (the mackerel tabby) got hit by a car last year – she survived, but she lost one eye. The photos attached were taken three years ago. They show a few of my cats’ favourite spots: the top of the wardrobe which is a good place to hide or play, the fridge (for obvious reasons) and the radio which is nice and warm.
– Joanna (Poland)

Wilson on a cane chair using his teddy bear as a pillow.

Monday’s pets on furniture

Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015 by KiM

Sadly, MoSmitty’s life ended this past Thursday April 23rd. I am hoping that you might run his pic in his memory. He was my 18 pound fearless protector and defender, 24 hr. a day constant companion. He was smart beyond words and looked at you as if he understood anything and everything. He was THE MAN…my lil man Mo. I am a very private person and shy away from camera lenses, selfies, etc… But, I want to honor my boy. I hope you will honor my boy. He DID love furniture, especially anything with down cushions. Down pillows and beds with down comforters were his favorite. In the photo he was at the Westin in Seattle on one of their “heavenly beds.” Although they supplied a dog bed, that was not for him.
We here in dogland, me and his devoted brother Dexter feel lost and adrift without our MoSmitty.

– d of dogland (aka Donna)

This is Suri, our 8 month old romanian street dog, on her newfound 2nd favourite place in the house.
– Nina (Berlin)

This is Bella. I rescued her about 2-1/2 years ago. She greets everyone that comes into my home and if they ignore her she will meow up at them until they acknowledge her. LOL
– Alison (Houston, TX)

My dog is Standard Schnauzer Wilibald (Wili), and he is working with me at my studio.
First part of the day he is spending in different poses on the sofa

His friend Bali- Swiss Shepherd is regular guest

Wilibald often goes with me when I’m working out of office (here, he is checking construction of staircase 🙂 )

…or he is just chilling in atelier

We have more friends…this is Borzoi Zappa, being our home guest while I was in the middle of relocating, with house filled with boxes and furniture without its place…I can t say that he did any helping job exept ironing my sofa 🙂

– Ana (Split, Croatia)

I didn’t think I would have enough pet entries for a post anytime soon so I didn’t manage to get any decent photos of any of my herd on furniture. But I did take this – fatty Felix in a vintage wooden crate turned cat bed. So here you go.

If you would like to submit a pets on furniture entry, please send photos to kim[@]desiretoinspire[.]net. I would love to try and keep this series alive.
