So simple

I really REALLY love this simple rod attached to a wall displaying clothing (or a collection of scarves, blankets, art clipped on pant hangers…)

ara Design Studio

Sarah Davison of Australian interior design firm ara Design Studio is one talented lady. Her rooms are timeless, classy, unpretentious and just really gorgeous. I’m a fan, and totally crushing on the space above. (Jo also noted the talent of this firm way back here).

Making a b-id for perfection

Posted on Wed, 14 Sep 2011 by midcenturyjo

Bad pun I know but I can’t help it. Every time Julia Edelmann from Buckingham Interiors + Design sends me pictures of her showroom I go weak at the knees. Each time it is a perfection of eclectic pieces combined in a way that only Julia and her team can do. Last time she sent me pics of its previous incarnation I thought it couldn’t get any better. I wanted to move in straight away. But now I know it always gets better. I’ll still move in and happily wait for Julia’s seasonal changes!

Backyard inspiration

Posted on Tue, 13 Sep 2011 by KiM

This, my friends, is EXACTLY what I want to do in my backyard once the new house is complete. Maybe not the bamboo because I’m not sure that can grow in the climate up here in good ‘ol Canada but whatever, I can stick all sorts of grasses around the perimeter (and the chairs blend too much with the concrete). I’d have to include a concrete box filled with cat grass though for my herd because they insist on eating it (and then barfing everywhere). I hate grass in general so this is my ideal yard. Modern and LOW MAINTENANCE.

Crocodile Rocks

Posted on Tue, 13 Sep 2011 by KiM

Unique Home Stays is a UK based company that offers accommodations in some of the most luxurious and grandest private houses in the UK and overseas. They have a little bit of everything, from castles to water mills, beachside havens to woodland hideaways. One of my favourite homes is called Crocodile Rocks, located in Elie and Earlsferry, Scotland. It’s a Victorian beach house (such a quirky combo) that is completely modernized, and featured a really cool collection of artwork that I’m smitten with. Fresh and funky, this would be an amazing home to rent with a group of friends for a week-long party and sun and lots of frolicking on the beach. *sigh*
