Clash crash and colour

Brace yourself for the clash of the pattern and the knock out punch of the colours. The 60s and 70s at their not so subtle OTT best. Some are just so right and many are oh so so wrong. Once again these are scanned from that extraordinary style source Practical Decorating Ideas, Ure Smith , Sydney 1973.

Drake Design Associates

Jamie Drake is a genius with colour. His portfolio is brilliant, and this Fifth Avenue loft really stood out. “Surprise and movement – that’s what I like. Colors both ground and animate this space, whether washing in yellow or popping with pink. High gloss lacquer, antique mirror and rich silk velvets and shantungs polish up the eclectic mix of furnishings.”

Jack Levy Design

Jack Levy is a nationally recognized designer that has been featured in many magazines such as Interior Design, Traditional Home, House & Garden and Veranda. “Jack believes in breaking the rules of traditional design;silk velvet on ultra modern pieces or as a contrast, burlap on signed Louis XVI pieces. He is inspired by the tranquility of nature, specifically stones and water and adds exuberant color taken from elements of nature and his travels. Jack’s style is most often noted as luxuriously simple.” And he breaks the rules VERY well. Love his pairing of bold colors with traditional furniture and artwork.
