Two designs by Melbourne based interior designer Travis Walton. One residential, one commercial. The first, the Cloverdale Residence, is a contemporary home with a limited colour palette that is lifted with luxury finishes of marble, travertine tiling and European Oak. The open plan design is perfect for modern Australian living. The second design, Threefold , an acclaimed Melbourne eatery and supplier involved the gut renovation of an historic hotel building in Flinders Lane. French bistro meets urban industrial, inviting, intimate, a mix of the original and the new. Stealing ideas from here for my next kitchen.

Perched on the water’s edge on an island south west of Stockholm is the H-House by Arkitektstudio Widejdal Racki (whilst practising as Arkitektstudio WRB). Like the Surfers House in a previous post, the building is about reacting to the changes in the weather. Roll open the windows, enjoy the open courtyards, bask in the summer sun and take in the view but when the wind blows and the temperature drops there are covered, protected areas and an outdoor fireplace.

Concrete and glass embracing an amazing ocean view. Feet dug deep into the slope to anchor and provide privacy. Seamless transition from interior to exterior takes entertaining to another level. Luxury finishes of leather and timber soften the stark lines. And, of course, a pool to die for. A contemporary family home by SAOTA – Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects with interiors by Antoni Associates. Skinny dip anyone?

Surf’s up and so is my pulse. Beautiful white boxes punctuated by large expanses of glass, the house is by Sweden’s Arkitektstudio Widejdal Racki (work completed while the firm was Arkitektstudio WRB). Open it up to the beautiful site or close it up and shelter inside when wild weather rolls in. Casual, stylish and perfect for a surfing weekend. What am I saying? Just surfing? You would find me just sitting on the patio being hypnotised by the ever changing sea.

Here is Alia Bengana‘s second project she sent over: Apartment in the heart of Paris 1st arrondissement overlooking the biggest Paris construction site. This project was about giving some personality to this apartment, creating as much as possible built in cupboards and bookshelves in an apartment that had none. The materials chosen for those small interventions here and there were natural oak, dark colored oak, lacquered mdf, and colored cement resin for the bathrooms and kitchen floor. The classical Paris molding around doors were painted in dark grey in order to highlight them with a contemporary twist. A very long and dark corridor was painted bright red. Love the floor, and the red hallway is a fun idea in an otherwise boring space!
